LIBRARY EXPANDS

Thank you to executors Mary and Rick Petrie for choosing the library as a recipient of the Madlyn Gladle estate.  With it and a New York SED Library Construction Grant we've purchased the lot next door.  The new library park is a tremendous addition to the neighborhood.

WHY WE LOVE LIBRARIES

"... libraries teach us what books can do: show us our responsibilities toward one another, help us question our values and undermine our prejudices, lend us courage and ingenuity to continue to live together, and give us illuminating words that might allow us to imagine better times." - Alberto Manguel

35 ATTEND FIRST SUMMER READING SESSION OF 2015

And I had so much fun I forgot to take pictures!  It was a great turnout of enthusiastic readers and a wonderful way to start the program.  Thank you to everyone who was able to attend.

Don't forget to come next Tuesday for "Once Upon a Wolf", performed by theMerry-Go-Round Playhouse Musical & Youth Theatre from Auburn, NY.

Keep reading and remember to challenge yourself.  If you discover something out-of-this-world be sure to share it!  But most of all, have fun.

BROWNSTONE BOOK FUND

Our library has just received a gift of 100 new children's books, ranging from pre-kindergarten through early readers.  These books were a donation from the Brownstone Book Fund, a private foundation in New York City, interested in fostering early reading, a love of books and encouraging parents and children to read together.  These books will be ready for circulation after the July 4th celebration.  Come to the library anytime during regular business hours to get a preview of this fantastic collection.  THANK YOU BROWNSTONE BOOK FUND!
